In October 2019 a large group of non-violent activists occupied the Place du Châtelet and the aptly named Pont au Change bridge in the heart of Paris. They sought to bring urgency to the struggle to prevent catastrophic climate change and habitat destruction. It was a scene rich in contrasts: continuity and change; security and freedom; old and new; danger and joie de vivre.

Street photography is a transgressive act that records people in their daily environment and historic period. But is it wrong to take photos of people without their knowledge or consent?
